One of the great things about blogging is the people you meet.
Fuchsia Woman (a.k.a. Toni Dockter) is one of those blogging friends that makes it all worthwhile. She says she does housework in an evening gown. I believe her.
We met in the very beginning, when Romancing the Everyday was just getting started. I wrote a post about Fascinators and asked Toni if I could use a photo from her blog. She said, like Toni would, “yes, but of course.”
Now and then she sends me things. Just because. She’s generous and thoughtful like that.
The other day a Toni package came in the mail. Excitement! They’re always in colorful mailers and she always gift wraps things in colorful tissue paper and beautiful ribbons and sends delightful cards (and sometimes stickers, too).
This time it was three gorgeous vintage handkerchiefs.
The one with the crocheted edging is just too beautiful.
We often marvel how our minds work alike. She doesn’t really “know” me, mind you. But, somehow, she KNOWS me. Yes, she does. I don’t question it. We even seem to be thinking the same things around the same times. I know because I read her blog and she reads mine.
Well, back to the hankies. Little did she know (or maybe she just did) that I collect them!
When I used to “do” corporate (I was a marketing communications writer) I would wear jackets and blazers and tuck one of these pretties in the pocket (or pin it on with a vintage pin). The ones with the “G” monogram go back to when I was a child. My gramma gave them to me.
Toni thinks we should eschew paper tissues and go back to hankies. I’m with ya girl! With one reservation. When I have a bad cold, I don’t want to be carrying THAT around in my pocket! In the garbage it goes. But for a dainty dab of the nose or to wipe a tear (of joy or sorrow)…I’ll go for that!
Thanks so very much Toni! You’re the best.
And if you haven’t taken the time to check out Toni’s blog, I suggest you do. Her unique take on things is always fun to read and you’ll feel like you know her right away.
